Commit and monitor an import

After you review the import preview, committing is what writes your members to MapleGather. This guide explains how to confirm the commit and what to do while it runs — including what happens if it’s a large file.

Who can do this: Admins with the import commit permission. If the Confirm import → button isn’t available to you, ask your Org Owner.

  • Review and approve the import preview first. Committing without a fresh preview is blocked — if you changed the file or mapping since the preview, MapleGather will ask you to re-preview before you can proceed. See Review the import preview and relationship graph.
  1. On the Preview import screen, select Confirm import →.
  2. Read the confirmation dialog. It tells you how many records will be committed and that you have 48 hours to undo the import if you need to reverse it. Select Commit import to proceed.
  3. MapleGather moves to the Import progress screen. For smaller files, the import completes quickly and you’re taken to the summary screen automatically.
  4. For larger imports, a progress bar shows X of N imported and an estimated time remaining. The ● Live indicator confirms that the count is updating in real time. You can leave this page and come back — the import continues on the server and the Bulk Operations panel in the sidebar shows the progress.
  5. If another import is already running for your org, you’ll see a notice that your import is queued. It will start automatically when the first one finishes.
  6. To stop a large import mid-run, select Cancel import. A dialog tells you how many members have already been imported and will remain — cancelling only stops future batches, it doesn’t remove what’s already been committed. Select Stop importing to confirm.

You’ll know the import is complete when the progress screen redirects to the Import complete (or Import cancelled) summary screen. The summary shows created, updated, and error counts.

  • The import is taking a long time — Large imports (50,000 rows or more) run asynchronously and can take up to 10 minutes. See Your large import is stuck or slow.
  • The page shows “Re-preview required” — The file or mapping changed since you previewed. Go back to the mapping screen and confirm your columns again, then retry.
  • The import shows “failed” — No data was committed. Select Contact support from the summary or submit a support ticket from Help > Support. No members were imported.
