Can't revoke the last Org Owner

You’re trying to revoke an admin’s access and the revoke dialog shows “Can’t revoke the last Org Owner — promote another admin first.”

MapleGather requires at least one active Org Owner at all times. If the admin you’re trying to revoke is the only person with the Org Owner role, MapleGather blocks the action to prevent your organization from becoming permanently inaccessible.

This applies whether you’re revoking someone else’s access or your own. It’s a safeguard, not a bug.

The same protection applies when removing a member tag that’s used in a group binding for the Org Owner role — if removing the tag would leave zero Org Owners, MapleGather blocks the tag removal too.

  1. Go to Admin & SecurityAdminsActive tab.
  2. Find another active admin you want to promote to Org Owner.
  3. Select on their row and choose Edit roles.
  4. Assign them the Org Owner role (or create a custom role with equivalent permissions) and save.
  5. Once the new Org Owner assignment is confirmed, return to the admin you originally wanted to revoke and proceed with Revoke access.
  • If there are no other active admins to promote, you need to invite a new admin and assign them the Org Owner role before revoking the current owner.
  • If you’re trying to revoke your own account and there’s no one else to promote right now, consider using Account handover instead — it’s designed for this transition.
  • If you believe this block is incorrect (for example, there are other Org Owners listed but you’re still seeing the error), contact MapleGather support from HelpContact support with your organization name and the admin email addresses involved.
