Register someone for an event on their behalf

This guide shows you how to register a member for an event as an admin, including how to issue a complimentary (comp) registration when full capacity has been reached.

Who can do this: Organization admins with event management permissions.

  • Comped registrations do not go through payment. Use this for guests, speakers, or members you want to admit at no charge.
  • If the event is at capacity, you can override the capacity limit for a comp registration. The override is logged in the audit trail.
  • Comp registrations cannot be undone directly — you can cancel the registration instead if needed. You have 48 hours after comp to cancel.
  1. Open the event and select the Attendees tab.
  2. Select Register on behalf.
  3. Search for the member by name or email and select them.
  4. Select the ticket type.
  5. Select a Reason from the dropdown (Comp / Phone-in / Other). This is required for complimentary registrations.
  6. Select Confirm registration.

If the event is at capacity, a dialog asks whether to override the limit. Select Override capacity to proceed. The override is recorded in the admin audit log.

If you register the wrong person, you can undo the comp registration within 48 hours.

  1. Open the Attendees tab.
  2. Find the registration row and select (row actions).
  3. Select View / Edit.
  4. Select Cancel registration.

After confirming, the member appears in the Attendees tab with status Registered. The member also receives a registration confirmation.

  • Member does not appear in the search — the member may not have an account with your organization. They must be in your member database to register on their behalf.
  • Event is at capacity — select Override capacity in the confirmation dialog to proceed. The override is logged.
