Member database email role reference
This reference describes the email roles that control which address receives different types of messages for a member.
Overview
Section titled “Overview”A member can have more than one email address on file. Email roles determine which address MapleGather uses for each type of outbound message. Every member must have a primary address; all other roles are optional and can be assigned to any address on the record.
Roles are set on the Email routing section of the member edit page. Rows that show a lock icon are required for billing and cannot be removed while an active subscription is in place.

- Every record must have exactly one
primaryaddress. - The
billingandreceiptsroles can be assigned to the same address or different addresses. - An address can hold multiple roles at once.
- If no
receiptsaddress is assigned, receipts go to thebillingaddress. - If no
billingaddress is assigned, invoices go to theprimaryaddress. - The
primaryaddress can’t be deleted while the record exists. To replace it, add the new address first, then reassign theprimaryrole to that address. - Changing the
primaryaddress puts the new address in a pending-verification state. Mail continues to go to the old address until the member confirms the new one.
