Member not appearing in directory

You’re looking for a specific member in the directory, but they’re not showing up in the list.

A member only appears in the directory when all three of the following are true:

  1. Their effective membership status is active (or the directory is set to include lapsed members).
  2. They haven’t turned off “Show me in the directory” in their privacy settings.
  3. The viewer’s access meets the directory’s visibility scope — Public, Members only, or Restricted.

If any one of these isn’t met, the member won’t appear for that viewer.

Use the admin-mode preview to check all three gates at once.

  1. In the admin sidebar, select Directory, then select the directory you’re checking.
  2. Select Preview directory. Admin mode shows all non-archived members, including opted-out ones.
  3. Look for the member in the list.
    • If they appear with a “Hidden from public” badge, they’ve opted out. They can re-enable their listing in Preferences → Directory privacy by turning on Show me in the directory.
    • If they appear without a badge in admin mode but not in the regular member view, check the directory’s visibility scope on the Overview tab. The member may not meet the Restricted directory’s allowed levels or tags.
    • If they don’t appear even in admin mode, their membership status may not be active, or they may be archived. Check their member record.

If you’ve checked all three gates and the member still isn’t appearing as expected, contact MapleGather support. Include:

  • The member’s name or ID.
  • The directory name and which URL you’re using to view it.
  • What you see in admin mode.
