Compose and send a broadcast email
This guide shows you how to write a one-time email to a group of members and send it right away.
Who can do this: Admins who can send broadcasts.
Before you start
Section titled “Before you start”- Set up a custom From address in Email > Deliverability so your blast arrives from your organization’s domain. Emails send from a functional fallback address until that step is complete.
- Have at least one saved segment ready, or plan to use All active members as the audience. You can also build a new segment directly from the composer.
- Go to Email > All blasts in the sidebar and select New blast.
- Enter a subject line in the Subject field. The subject is required before you can send.
- Write your email in the body editor. Use the toolbar to add formatting, images, or links. To include a member’s name or other details, select Insert merge tag and choose a tag such as
{{first_name}}. - In the Send to field, choose your audience:
- Pick a saved segment or All active members from the list.
- Select a saved search if you’ve built one under Members.
- To build a new segment on the spot, choose Build new segment… from the menu.
- Check the recipient count that appears below the Send to field. If some members are excluded because they’ve opted out, you’ll see “N recipients excluded — opted out. They will not receive this blast.”
- (Optional) Select Preview to see how the email looks for a sample member. You can change the sample recipient using the picker in the preview panel. Select Send to me to send a test copy to your own inbox.
- Select Send now.
Verify
Section titled “Verify”You’ll know it worked when a “Broadcast queued” message appears and you land on the send-detail page. Watch the progress bar as the email goes out. When it reaches 100%, a “Sent to N recipients” message confirms the blast is complete. The delivery rate appears on that same page.
If something goes wrong
Section titled “If something goes wrong”- “Subject required” error — fill in the Subject field and try again.
- “0 recipients — adjust filter or cancel send” — your audience filter returned no eligible members. Adjust the segment or clear the exclusions.
- Send button isn’t showing — your role doesn’t include permission to send broadcasts. Ask your organization’s primary admin to grant it.
- Send shows as Partial after you left the page — see Broadcast shows as Partial or Cancelled.
