Stripe connection failed or verification required
This article helps you resolve problems connecting Stripe to MapleGather or completing Stripe’s verification requirements.
What’s happening
Section titled “What’s happening”One of several things can prevent a successful Stripe connection:
- You left Stripe’s Connect page before completing the authorization.
- Stripe requires additional identity or business verification (KYC) before your account can accept live payments.
- A transient outage prevented MapleGather from contacting Stripe’s API.
- Your admin account doesn’t have the
billing:configure-processorpermission.
How to fix it
Section titled “How to fix it”Find your error message and follow the matching steps.
“Setup was not completed — connect Stripe to start accepting payments”
- Go to Billing & payments > Payment processor.
- Select Connect Stripe again.
- Complete the full Stripe Connect authorization flow without closing the browser tab.
“Your Stripe account needs verification before payments are accepted”
- On the Payment processor page, select Complete Stripe setup.
- Complete Stripe’s onboarding (business name, address, bank account, and any identity documents required).
- Return to MapleGather. The banner clears when verification is approved. If approval takes longer, Stripe sends you an email — return to confirm the status afterwards.
Note: You can run test payments while verification is pending. Test mode doesn’t require full KYC.
“Couldn’t reach Stripe — try again”
- Wait one to two minutes, then select Connect Stripe again.
- If the error continues, check Stripe’s status page for any active incidents.
- If Stripe is operational and the error persists, contact MapleGather support.
“You don’t have permission to configure the payment processor”
Contact your org’s primary admin and request the billing:configure-processor permission. Primary admins assign permissions from Settings > Roles & permissions.
Test payment declined
Use the pre-filled test card number 4242 4242 4242 4242 with any future expiry and any three-digit CVC. A test-mode decline doesn’t affect your live Stripe integration.
If that didn’t work
Section titled “If that didn’t work”If you’ve completed the steps above and the connection still isn’t working, contact MapleGather support. Include:
- The exact error message you’re seeing on the Payment processor page.
- Whether your Stripe account shows as verified in the Stripe Dashboard.
- The timestamp when you first saw the error.
