Get started in your member portal

By the end of this guide, you’ll have completed the welcome tour and set your display preferences. It takes about 5 minutes.

What you’ll need

  • A MapleGather account (you received an invitation email from your organization and set your password to create this).
  • A link to sign in to your organization’s member portal — check your invitation email if you’re not sure of the address.

Step 1 — Complete the member portal welcome tour

When you sign in for the first time, a welcome tour appears automatically. It introduces the four key areas of your member portal. If the tour doesn’t appear, you can reopen it from your profile menu.

  1. Read the welcome message and select Next to begin.
  2. Work through the four tour steps:
    • Profile spotlight — see where your public profile lives and how other members see you in the directory.
    • Privacy preferences — learn how to control what information is visible to other members. You can adjust these at any time from your profile settings.
    • Upcoming events — see your organization’s event calendar and how to register for events.
    • Messages — find where to view announcements and messages from your organization.
  3. Select Finish on the last step to complete the tour.

You should now see your member portal home screen with the tour marked complete.

Step 2 — Set your appearance preference

MapleGather lets you choose how the portal looks on your device.

  1. Select your profile avatar in the top-right corner of the page.
  2. Select Appearance.
  3. Choose one of the three options:
    • Light — always use the light theme.
    • Dark — always use the dark theme.
    • Follow system — automatically match your device’s system setting (recommended if you switch between light and dark modes on your device).
  4. The page updates immediately to preview your choice — no save button needed.

You should now see the portal displayed in your chosen theme.

What you’ve set up

You’ve completed the welcome tour and saved your appearance preference. Next, you might want to:

  • Update your member profile with a photo and bio.
  • Browse upcoming events and register for one.
  • Review your membership details and renewal date.
