Lifecycle automation matrix reference

This page lists every lifecycle email automation in MapleGather, what triggers it, when it sends, and which email class it belongs to.

  • Class: Transactional — always sends; members can’t opt out.
  • Class: Marketing — only sends to members who haven’t opted out of the relevant marketing category.
  • Trigger — the event that causes MapleGather to schedule this email.
  • Default timing — when the email sends relative to the trigger. Admins can adjust timing from Email > Automation > Edit.
Automation Class Trigger Default timing
Welcome Transactional Membership activated Immediately at activation
Approval Transactional Pending application approved by admin Immediately at approval
Decline Transactional Application declined by admin Immediately at decline

Automation Class Trigger Default timing
Grace warning Transactional Payment missed; membership in grace period Immediately at grace start
Lapse notice Transactional Membership lapses (grace period ends) Immediately at lapse
Resurrection Marketing Membership lapses Configurable days after lapse (default: 30d)
  • Renewal reminder is the only lifecycle automation that members can silence. Members do this from their email preferences under Reminders. All other transactional automations send regardless of the member’s marketing preferences.
  • Resurrection is off by default. You must enable it from the automation matrix. It only sends to members who haven’t opted out of marketing emails. Enabling it requires an additional permission beyond the standard template-editing permission — contact your organization’s primary admin if the toggle is not available.
  • The org-wide email kill switch on the automation matrix page pauses all automations — including transactional ones — until you restore it. Use this only when you need to temporarily halt all sending.
  • The Welcome email can be suppressed for an individual member at the time you add them. Check Skip welcome email in the member-add form.
