Update your payment method

This guide shows you how to replace the card on file for your membership — whether you’re doing it proactively or in response to a payment failure.

Who can do this: Any active member.

If your renewal payment failed and you’re in a grace period, MapleGather retries the charge using your new card as soon as you save it. If that retry also fails, you’ll see a second decline — try a different card.

  1. Sign in to the member portal.

  2. Select My membership in the navigation.

  3. Under Card on file, select Update card.

If you arrived from a “Your card was declined” email, select the Update card on file link in that email instead — it takes you directly to the update page.

  4. On the Update payment method page, review your current card (shown as the last 4 digits and expiry date).

  5. Enter your new card number, expiry, and security code in the new card section.

  6. Select Save new card.

You’ll know it worked when a confirmation message appears and the Card on file section on the My membership page shows the new card’s last 4 digits.

If your card was previously declined (you’re in a grace period), MapleGather automatically retries the failed charge against the new card after you save it. You don’t need to do anything else. If the retry succeeds, your membership is fully active again.

  • “Card declined” — the new card was also declined. Try yet another card or contact your bank.
  • A 3D Secure prompt appears — your bank requires extra verification. Complete the step shown on screen. If it fails, your existing card stays in place.
  • You don’t see the update page — make sure you’re signed in. The link in your declined-payment email signs you in automatically.
