Import job states reference

This page describes every state an import job can be in and what that state means for you as an admin. You’ll see these states in the Migration import history list and on the import progress screen.

State What it means What you can do
uploaded Your file was received and read successfully. Column mapping hasn’t been confirmed yet. No member data has been touched. Confirm or adjust column mappings on the mapping screen.
mapping_pending MapleGather is waiting for you to review and confirm the suggested column-to-field mappings. Review mappings and select Confirm mappings →.
previewing Mappings are confirmed. MapleGather has computed the preview plan — what will be created, updated, and skipped. Nothing has been written yet. Review the preview and select Confirm import → when ready.
committing You’ve confirmed the import and it’s running. For small imports this state lasts only a few seconds. For large imports (50,000+ rows) you’ll see a live progress bar. Monitor the progress screen. You can cancel at any time — rows already committed remain.
completed (no failures) The import finished and every row succeeded. Review the summary screen and send your members their welcome email.
completed (with failures) The import finished, but some rows had errors. Successfully imported rows are in your system; the failed rows need attention. This is sometimes called a partial success. Download the error report and retry failed rows from the summary screen.
failed Something went wrong before or during the commit. No member data was imported — there’s no partial state. Contact support. The import row shows a failed badge in your history.
cancelled You cancelled the import mid-run. Any rows that had already been committed remain in your system — they are not automatically rolled back. Review the summary for committed counts. Use Undo this import from the history list if you want to reverse everything within 48 hours.
undoing You’ve started a reversal. MapleGather is working through the batch manifest to remove created records and restore updated ones. Wait for the reversal to complete. The row updates to undone when done.
undone The import has been fully reversed. Created records are removed and updated records are restored to their state before the import. No further action available. The row stays in your history for traceability.

A completed import with some rows failing is still shown as completed — there is no separate “partial” status. The summary screen uses an amber header to show that some rows need attention, alongside the Retry failed rows only option.
