Renewal settings reference

This page describes every setting on the Auto-renewal & reminder settings page in MapleGather, found at Memberships > Settings > Auto-renewal.

These settings control what happens when an auto-renewal charge fails.

Setting What it does Notes
Use Stripe’s recommended schedule Lets Stripe retry the failed payment automatically at 3, 5, and 7 days after failure. Default. Stripe’s algorithm may adjust exact timing within each window.
Custom retry schedule Lets you set your own retry timing as a list of day-offsets from the initial failure (for example, day 3, day 5, day 7). Up to 4 retry attempts are supported; each offset must be greater than the one before it. Each value represents days after the previous failure.
After all retries fail What happens to the member’s subscription when all retries are exhausted. Default: “Lapsed — member keeps read-only portal access and can rejoin.” (Configurable grace period is a future feature.)

This section configures when renewal reminder emails go out to members. Individual levels can override this with their own schedule.

Setting What it does Notes
Reminder offsets A list of timing offsets relative to each member’s renewal date. Positive values (e.g., 30, 7, 1) represent days before the renewal date; zero means on the renewal date; negative values mean days after. Members receive an email at each configured offset.
Edit template Link to the email template editor for each offset. Opens in a new tab. Templates are customized per reminder.
Use recommended defaults Appears when the offset list is empty. Pre-fills three offsets: 30 days before, 7 days before, and 1 day before the renewal date.

Duplicate offset: adding the same offset twice is blocked with an error. Each offset must be unique.

More than 6 offsets: a non-blocking advisory message warns that members may unsubscribe from too-frequent reminders.

Lifetime levels: renewal reminders never fire for Lifetime-level members, regardless of this setting.

This one-time action sends a reminder to members who are past their renewal date and haven’t received one yet (for example, after a launch or data migration).

Setting What it does Notes
Preview catch-up list Shows the list of members who will receive the catch-up reminder. Members who have opted out of lifecycle email are excluded and reported after sending.
Send catch-up reminders Sends the catch-up template to all eligible past-due members. Opens a confirmation dialog before sending. Members who have opted out of email are automatically skipped.
