Browse the public member directory as a visitor

This guide shows you how to browse a public member directory without an account, and what you can see as a visitor compared to a signed-in member.

Who can do this: Anyone — you don’t need to sign in or join to browse a public directory. If the directory is set to members-only, you’ll need to sign in first.

  • Your organization must have set up a public directory. If you see “Sign in to view this directory,” the directory is members-only — select Sign in or Join to proceed.
  • The directory refreshes every 5 minutes. Very recent changes (such as a member opting out) may take a few minutes to appear.
  1. Open your organization’s public directory URL (found on their website, or shared with you directly).
  2. Scroll through the member cards. Each card shows the fields that members have set to Public.
  3. Select any card to open that member’s profile.
  4. On the profile page, you’ll see their public-visible fields. Fields set to Members only are not visible to visitors — a prompt says “Sign in or join to see this” in place of those fields.
  1. Enter a keyword in the search bar to find members by name, profession, or other fields.
  2. If filters appear (such as Profession or Location), select a value to narrow the results. Results update right away.
  3. Apply as many filters as you want to narrow your search.

The URL updates automatically as you search and apply filters. Copy the URL from your browser’s address bar and share it — anyone who opens the link will see the same filtered view.

You’ll know the directory loaded when you can see member cards or the message “Directory is empty.” Your filtered view is ready to share when the URL in your browser’s address bar includes your search terms and filter selections.

  • “Sign in to view this directory” — this directory is set to members-only. Select Sign in if you have an account, or Join to apply for membership.
  • “No members match these filters” — try removing a filter or using a shorter keyword. Select Clear search to start over.
  • A filter shows a warning about a removed value — that filter option is no longer available. Select Clear invalid filter and reapply your other selections.
