Membership shows lapsed or expired
You see a banner saying your membership has lapsed, or the My membership page shows an expired status. This happens when a renewal payment failed and all retries ran out.
What’s happening
Section titled “What’s happening”When a renewal charge fails, MapleGather tries again several times over about two weeks. If all retries fail, the membership goes to Lapsed. You can still browse the portal in read-only mode, but you can’t register for events or make other changes.
How to fix it
Section titled “How to fix it”- Sign in to the member portal.
- Select Rejoin now in the banner at the top of the page. This goes to the sign-up page.
- Pick your membership level and complete a new application with payment.
Once done, your membership is active again.
If you see “An account with this email already exists”: your email is already in the system from your previous membership. Select the sign-in option. After signing in, you’ll land on your membership page showing the lapsed status. Contact the organization and ask them to re-activate your membership — an admin can transition your status to restore your access. A full self-service rejoin path is coming in a future update.
If that didn’t work
Section titled “If that didn’t work”- No “Rejoin now” button — contact the organization. They can activate your membership or send you an invitation link.
- Status looks wrong but shows Active — contact the admin and describe what you see. Include your email address and the date you last renewed.
