A direct link to a member's profile shows 'Member not in directory'

You opened a saved link to a member’s directory profile and see “Member not in directory” instead of their profile.

A direct link to a member’s profile shows “Member not in directory” when the member is no longer visible in the directory. This happens when:

  • The member has opted out of the directory since the link was saved or shared.
  • The member’s account has been archived.
  • The member’s effective status changed in a way that makes them ineligible (for example, their membership lapsed and the directory doesn’t include lapsed members).

MapleGather shows the same message in all of these cases — regardless of the reason — so that the directory doesn’t reveal whether someone has an account when they’ve chosen not to be visible.

  1. Search the directory for the member’s name to see if they appear under a different URL.
  2. If they don’t appear in the directory, they may have opted out or their membership may have changed.
  3. If you’re an admin and need to contact this member, find them in the Members list in the admin area — their record is separate from their directory visibility.

If you’re an admin and need to confirm a specific member’s directory status, use the admin-mode directory preview. See Preview the directory in admin mode for instructions. In admin mode, opted-out members appear with a “Hidden from public” badge.
