Revoke an admin's access

This guide shows you how to remove an admin’s access to your organization — for example, when someone leaves, changes roles, or their account may be compromised.

Who can do this: Admins who have permission to revoke admin access. Org owners can do this by default.

  • You cannot revoke the last org owner. Promote another admin to org owner first, then revoke the departing account.
  • Revoking is reversible within 48 hours. After that window, you would need to invite the person again.
  • Active sessions end within about 60 seconds of revocation.
  1. Go to Admin & SecurityAdmins.
  2. Click the name of the admin you want to revoke.
  3. Open the menu on their detail page.
  4. Click Revoke access.
  5. In the confirmation dialog, open the Reason dropdown and select the reason that best fits:
    • Departed staff
    • Suspected compromise
    • Role change
    • Inactive
    • Other
  6. Review the notice: active sessions will end within 60 seconds, and you have 48 hours to undo this action.
  7. Click Revoke access to confirm.

The admin’s account status changes to “Revoked” and their sessions end within 60 seconds.

You have 48 hours to reverse the action.

  1. Find the success message that appeared after you revoked access.
  2. Click Undo in that message.

If you missed the message, contact MapleGather support within the 48-hour window.

You’ll know it worked when the admin’s row shows a Revoked status badge and you see the success message with an Undo option.

  • “Can’t revoke the last Org Owner — promote another admin first” — Your organization must always have at least one org owner. Go to Admin & SecurityAdmins, promote another admin to the org owner role, then return to revoke this account.
  • The 48-hour undo window has passed — Revocation is now permanent. To restore access, invite the person again from the Admins list.
  • Sessions are still active after a few minutes — Sessions end within 60 seconds under normal conditions. If an admin’s session persists longer, contact MapleGather support.
